Tenute Tondini is rooted in the heart of Gallura, on hills shaped by granite massifs and kissed by the winds of Sardinia. This ancient territory, made of sculpted rocks, intense light and pure air, is the cradle of our viticulture: a land that tells of history, nature and authenticity.
The soil beneath our vines derives from the slow disintegration of intrusive granites, typical of Gallura. Here Paleozoic granite rocks dominate, breaking down into coarse sand rich in quartz and feldspar crystals.
These soils are well-drained, with little clay and a tendency towards acidic pH, and contain a high mineral skeleton content. These characteristics favor the development of deep roots that seek water in depth, giving the grapes a vibrant minerality.
The climate in Gallura is typically Mediterranean, with hot, windy summers and mild winters. Average annual rainfall is around 700 to 800 mm, distributed mainly in autumn and winter.
Constant breezes, particularly the mistral, contribute to significant temperature variations between day and night. This microclimate favors slow ripening of the grapes, preserving freshness, acidity and an elegant mineral note.
Tenute Tondini's vineyards are located on granite hills between 200 and 500 meters of altitude, where the slope and rockiness favor natural drainage.
The prince grape is Vermentino di Gallura DOCG, which finds its ideal habitat in these conditions. The roots of the vines creep between the rock, seeking water and nutrients, and develop grapes of great aromatic intensity, freshness and mineral structure.
The hills around Tenute Tondini are a mosaic of granite rocks, blocks shaped by time and gentle slopes that host vineyards and Mediterranean scrub. The soil, rich in minerals and well-drained, creates ideal conditions for viticulture that enhances the unique character of the territory.
Mount Limbara, nearby, with its imposing granite structure and position relative to the surrounding hills, helps define the climatic character of the area, influencing the exposure of the slopes and the movement of local winds. Among the rocks thrives typically Mediterranean vegetation such as rockrose, myrtle, mastic tree, cork oaks and oaks, which feeds a living ecosystem in which local plants and animals coexist harmoniously with vine cultivation.
Gallura is a crossroads of ancient traditions and passion for the vine. Here Vermentino di Gallura DOCG, Sardinia's only DOCG, has found a strong and refined identity.
Tenute Tondini was born in this context: our commitment is to honor the wine heritage of the family and the region, working with respect for the land and for traditional techniques, but with a modern and sustainable vision.
